How James T Merry Used Playform to Create Björk’s New Vinyl Record

Incorporating Playform AI, artist James T Merry designed Björk’s vinyl record for the singer’s release of ‘Cosmogony.’ Björk partnered with Iceland’s Hamrahhlíð Choir to reproduce the original song, and the vinyl created by James T Merry was released on Record Store Day, in support of independent record stores around the United Kingdom. “The limited edition picturedisc features two versions of ‘Cosmogony’ - the original album version and the hamrahlíðarkórinn recording,” says artist Merry.

The artist says on his process of using Playform, “I spent months training the computer back and forth with hundreds of different image combinations, selecting my favorite results until a small genus of micro/macro nebulæmbryo lifeforms emerged…all conceived in the matrix.”
